Young Actor Looked to Enid native For InspirationKTEN.com, 2007 NEW YORK (AP) - Young actor Freddie Highmore says he looked to an Enid native for inspiration as he approached his role in the movie "August Rush." The 14-year-old actor says he had to learn how to convincingly play guitar like a child prodigy in the film, a fantasy about a young orphan's quest to find his lost parents. Highmore says watching footage of a musician named Michael Hedges helped him develop his playing style. An Enid native, Hedges died in a car accident in 1997. He was renowned for his use of alternate tunings and his percussive slapping of strings to create unusual tones from his steel-string guitar. |
